Minister Mikakos will talk about the challenges of being the first female Greek Australian Minister and Mrs Dafaranos will talk about why she became a patron of the Food For Thought Network and the importance of role models in our lives.

A panel discussion moderated by Dr Vivianne Nikou, Principal of  Alphington Grammar School will follow.

Professor Joy Damousi
University of Melbourne

Joy Damousi is Professor of History in the School of Historical and Philosophical Studies. She is the author of numerous books . Her world-class research into the history of child refugees in Australia has been recognised by the Australian Research Council (ARC),  with an Australian Laureate Fellowship.

Professor Georgina Tsolidis
Ballarat University
Georgina Tsolidis has worked in education for over 30 years including as a secondary school teacher, policy analyst and researcher. She began her academic career in 1993 and is now a professor of education. Her research interests include cultural identification, gender, education and family. She has also researched the Greek diaspora.

Dr Ann Mitsis
Swinburne University
Ann Mitsis is a first generation Australian born to Greek Cypriot parents. She has always had an interest in education and was encouraged by her parents to pursue her interests. Ann is a Lecturer in Marketing at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne and thoroughly enjoys sharing knowledge with the next generation of business leaders. Her research interests include university teaching best practice, Generation Y and consumer-based brand equity.

Maree Skalistis
State of Victoria Representative at The Hague International Model United Nations Conference

Maree received a VCE score of 99.35 and will be studying Arts/Law at Monash University.
